Upon first meeting with the homeowner, we discussed their vision and criteria for the renovation. They have a large finished basement with a living area and a pool table for entertaining and decided a wet bar was needed to complete the space.
We decided to blend the old with the new. The main kitchen area has traditional mocha cabinets with a nice granite counter top. The bar is a large custom made cabinet with a stainless steel footrest. The top for the bar is made from reclaimed heart pine taken out of a Lucky Strike tobacco warehouse. We coated it with three layers of table top epoxy for a lifelong finish. It really adds depth and color to the bar.
We also added a glass tile back splash and glass shelves.
The lighting was very important too. There are small LED lights in the cabinets and strip lighting underneath the cabinets. We also installed LED lighting under the bar top for a modern look. We then finished it off with 2" sparkle lights above the bar, resulting in a watery reflection on the ceiling above.
The clients were great to work with and came up with some creative ideas to help make this remodel a success.
